For a junior college the intended audience has a broader age range. Fresno State's web site is more for the traditional college age of 18-24. Both institutions wish to appeal to all individuals especially opening their doors to minorities. A junior college appeals to a wider variety of individuals. Some of these students will achieve their goals with a two year course of studies. A four year institution must try to attract a student who is more academically prepared.

Hi, Michelle,
You and I both have comments from someone outside our class trying to get us to go to a web site...
I agree that 4-year colleges want to attract students who are more academically prepared because they might stay with that college for even more education.
The 4-year colleges usually cost more, so perhaps they spend a little more on advertising by having a more exciting web site to attract more students.
I wonder whether a web-site geared to attract the 18-24 year olds ignores the older student. What I mean is that the older student might be more seriously focused on studies and the 18-24 year old is also thinking about his or her social life AS WELL AS a great education. So, of course, the sports, parties, and dorm life photos would appeal more to that age range.
I think that getting prerequisites completed at a junior college is smart, financially, for those of us who do not have wealthy parents (I have college-age children and am definitely NOT a wealthy parent).
And, whatever the age, getting a Bachelor's degree means going to a 4-year college. Maybe those colleges should make more of an effort to attract a larger age range.
I agree that community colleges focus more on the younger group that most likely will be attending right out of high school. Community college is used by a lot of students as a preview to college life and what college classes are going be like.
I like the way you describe both the associate and bachelors degree without having to use this words.
